Whitington's Homebuilders Intensive Family Preservation and Reunification Services provides therapeutic social services and training to families. The program is designed to assist families at imminent risk of removal of their child(ren). The intervention takes advantage of family crisis situations to promote change in the family with intensive, brief services. Therapists have very small caseloads of two to three families, and they are available for intake and consultation 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for a four to six week period. Families have a single therapist, with team backup.
The goal of HB Intensive Family Preservation is to remove the risk of harm to the child instead of removing the child from the home. These services are also available for pre-adoption and post-doption services for adoptive families at risk or in crisis. The goal of HB Intensive Reunification is to establish a safe and viable permanency plan for children who are being reunified with heir biological family of origin after a period of out-of-home lacement. The services will give families the chance to learn new behaviors, and help them make better choices for their children.
