Whitington Services for Children and Families Receives $489,000 Grant to Benefit Allen and Surrounding Counties Infants and Toddlers
We are thrilled to share some exciting news! Whitington has been chosen as a recipient of an Early Years Initiative grant, a funding opportunity led by Early Learning Indiana and generously supported by Lilly Endowment Inc. This grant program aims to enhance the learning and development of infants and toddlers in Allen and surrounding counties in Indiana.
Through this incredible opportunity, Whitington will be able to strengthen our efforts in supporting the cognitive, social-emotional, and physical well-being of the youngest members of our community. Our mission has always been to develop independent life skills that lead to self-sufficient families, and this grant aligns perfectly with that commitment.
With this grant, we hope to increase the number of self-sufficient families and decrease the number of fatherless children. Our goal is to provide support for populations that experience disproportionate rates of adversity. We intend to decrease both child-related crime and domestic violence. Overall, this positively impacts the community and provides a more favorable outcome for its youth. We intend for fewer instances of child abuse by teaching families to replace violence with healthy conflict resolution and informed care. With all of this, we intend for infants and toddlers to be held in safe and informed households that are attuned to their needs and capable of providing nurturance. The cumulative number of children, infants and toddlers served by this program is projected to be over 150. Over time, with this program, we will make a lasting impact on the children and families this grant allows us to reach.
